Brotherhood of Bethany

About BOB

“A word spoken in due season, how good it is!” Proverbs 15:23

In a time when so many are isolated, the men of Bethany have rallied together to form a ministry of fellowship. The mission of the Brotherhood of Bethany (BOB) is to unite the men of the church together in solidarity.

If you are a man (young or not so young) you have been invited to join BOB. The group will have informal gatherings (usually in one another's garages) because we all know our significant others will not let us bring other men into the house!

If you are interested, please complete the online form. The information will be shared among the group for support, prayer, hand holding, and just good old fashioned brotherly love, but your individual buddy will remain anonymous.

Have fun and enjoy getting to know your fellow BOBs!  You can be the instrument that God has placed in this person’s life to give them the encouragement they need right when they need it. Praying daily for your brother will strengthen you, and the rewards can be immeasurable.

Participation Details

1. Know that it is a commitment.  The brother you are assigned will be expecting you to uphold him in your prayers and he should be able to rely on you for encouragement.

2.  Pray daily for your brother.  Get to know his needs and his family’s needs so that you may pray specifically for them.

3.  Be an encouragement to your brother.  Send him cards or notes of encouragement. (you may leave your note at the welcome center for your Brother with his name on it)

4.  Make an effort to get to know your brother by reading and referencing his “All About Me” form.

5.  Remember your brother on his special occasions.  Do not forget to send cards for his birthday and anniversary or special landmarks in your brother’s life.

6.  Keep it a secret!  Do not let anyone know whom you have.  It is OK to reference the men as BOB though as a reminder of our love and brotherhood.  Leave your cards or notes when no one is around or have someone else deliver them.

7.  If you have any special prayer requests, please contact Bill Paviol at 412-722-3102 or at paviol@yahoo.com and he will forward the information to your BOB so that he can pray for your special request.

8.  If you find you are unable to continue participating in the BOB program, please contact Bill Paviol, 412-722-3102, so another BOB can be found for the brother you were assigned.

9.  If your brother has indicated an interest in a particular mission, (including any church outreach like ushering or greeting) honor his interest with donations or aid to that mission in lieu of gift giving.  If you wish to give a personal gift, please remember that the best gifts are not necessarily the most expensive gifts, but gifts from the heart.  A note of caring and a daily prayer will last a lifetime.
