Last weekend was a glorious time for Bethany and – I believe – for the glory and kingdom of God.
On Saturday over two hundred children and families gathered for the Breakfast with Santa at the Manger. It was a glorious and joyful time.
Thanks so much to all who organized and helped with the event.
This coming Sunday the children who were in the Nativity Skit will share it with the church in the 10:45am service. You will be blessed.
Then on Sunday the Annual Christmas Cantata was presented – with Scripture, choir and orchestra. The “sermon in music” was deeply moving. Thanks to all who were a part of the cantata.
At our 8:15am and 6pm services we heard, “The Shoot of Peace”, a message from Isaiah 11 on the peace we find Jesus…and the peace we can practice through him.
The following is a prayer I often pray on practicing God’s peace. It is attributed to Francis of Assisi. May it be your prayer, too, and ours as a family of God:
The Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi
Lord make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O divine master grant that I may
not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
To be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it’s in dying that we are born to eternal life.
God bless you and see you on Sunday,
