“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8
Since 2009, Bethany has sent a mission team consisting of adults and youth to West Virginia to work on restoring homes in this heavily impoverished and flood prone region of West Virginia. Projects include repairing flood damage, replacing roofs, building handicap ramps, clothes closet work as well as assisting with a bi-weekly breakfast served in the Montgomery Presbyterian Church. But the real change is in the lives of the people, through Christ we are blessed with the opportunity to put our time and talents to work to glorify God.
And looking at them Jesus said to them, “With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
-Matthew 19:26
Since October 2001, WV MAW have brought 40-60 volunteer groups per year to work in West Virginia. Their work has consisted of home repair and reconstruction, deconstruction, playground restoration, parks cleanup, stream bank stabilization, and vacation Bible schools, among other things.
We are supported by Presbyterian Disaster Assistanc
e, Synod of the Trinity and The Presbytery of West Virginia. The groups we recruit come from churches of various faith traditions, as well as from colleges and universities. Read more about WV MAW and it’s mission on their web site here.
Please pray for our brothers and sisters in West Virginia and the work that WV MAW does to provide clean, safe housing to the people in this area.
If you are interested in serving Jesus Christ through this mission, please email the Bethany West Virginia Mission Team or contact one of our pastors.
